St-Tropez to Monaco is 100 kilometres of the most beautiful — and most congested — coastline in Europe. In summer, the drive can take three hours. By helicopter it takes twenty-five minutes. For the Riviera's summer population, moving between the two is a weekly routine, and how you do it defines whether the day is spent travelling or arriving.
The Helicopter: The Real Answer
The St-Tropez–Monaco helicopter is the route's workhorse: 20–25 minutes from the St-Tropez helipad (or La Môle airfield) to Monaco Heliport, flying the coastline past Cannes and Cap d'Antibes. Cost: €1,500–€2,500 for a private helicopter seating up to six — €250–€400 per person at full load.
In July and August this is not a luxury, it is the only sane option. The A8 motorway and coastal roads between the two towns are among Europe's worst summer bottlenecks — the same journey by car is 90 minutes on a good day and three hours on a Saturday in August.
The Jet Option: Rarely the Right Tool
Fixed-wing between St-Tropez and Monaco is technically possible — La Môle–Saint-Tropez airport (LTT) to Cannes-Mandelieu or Nice — but the math rarely works. The airports sit 20–40 minutes from the towns themselves, so a 15-minute flight is bookended by an hour of ground transfers. The helicopter wins on total journey time every time.
Where the jet does fit: arriving INTO the region. Fly London–La Môle directly (small jets and turboprops only — the runway is 1,030m), spend your St-Tropez days, then helicopter to Monaco for the second half of the trip. La Môle handles aircraft up to light jet size; larger jets use Toulon-Hyères or Cannes-Mandelieu.

The route runs hot from late June through early September — the St-Tropez season — with a secondary peak during the September regattas (Les Voiles de Saint-Tropez) that often flows directly into the Monaco Yacht Show. That late-September week is the single busiest corridor: yachts and their owners migrate from the regatta to the show, and helicopter availability tightens accordingly.
Book the hop a few days ahead in peak season — same-day is usually possible but the choice of departure window narrows.
